Welcome!  My name is Dr. Sharis Aiazian and I am a licensed acupuncturist in both NJ and NY.  My educational journey started at Rutgers University-New Brunswick where I studied Exercise Science & Applied Kinesiology with a double minor in Professional Youth Work and Spanish. Simultaneuously, I completed all of my pre-med requirements in order to apply to medical school.  However, as I went through college, I felt that I wanted to branch out into another field of medicine; a type of medicine that could help my community with natural alternatives to health! Ultimately, this made me start to research careers in alternative medicine and brought me to acupuncture!  I attended Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York City where I graduated with honors with a Masters of Science in Acupuncture.

During my three years of graduate school, I mastered three different styles of acupuncture.  The three styles consisted of Acupuncture Physical Medicine, Kiiko Matsumoto Japanese Style Acupuncture, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (commonly taught as the sole style at other schools across the country).  My schooling was unlike any other.  Our training relied solely on the art of acupuncture with the option of receiving another Masters in Oriental Medicine (the study of herbal medicine).  Herbs and acupuncture are each their own complete form of medicine which is why I chose to focus entirely on acupuncture.  I  have worked on several patients and treated a wide variety of ailments ranging from pain conditions to internal illnesses to psychological issues.  The way I practice is very unique.  From the first appointment, I perform an in-depth intake where I discuss my patient's full medical history including any injuries, surgeries, and even emotional traumas they have or have had in their lives. Additionally, each treatment is highly customized.  Meaning, if I have ten patients complaining of a headache, they will all receive a different treatment as there are a number of root causes to a problem.

In 2018, I graduated, with honors, from the Doctorate of Acupuncture program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. The formal education I received from PCOM focused on Integrative Medicine and bridging the gap between Eastern and Western Medicine. Moreover, there was a finite concentration on research in the field of acupuncture and many other branches of medicine.

My acupuncture clinic, Heal By Design (also known by the name Acupuncture By Sharis) in Kinnelon, NJ is now my one and only space where I practice. While building my practice in the first office location, Ramsey, NJ, I worked in two other settings as well.

For about 5 years, I was an integrative therapist at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Paterson, NJ. My work there consisted of treating children with cancer and blood disorders.  However, I also treated children from other departments within the children's hospital such as trauma, gastroenterology and more upon request.  In this setting, I used acupuncture and other Chinese medical techniques to provide a great deal of help to reduce pain, increase overall blood circulation and provided relief to some adverse effects the children experienced as a result of the medications they were taking and/or the various procedures they underwent at the hospital to help with their condition.

Additionally, I used to work at the fast-paced Rehab Institute of NJ in Lodi, NJ over the duration of 4 years where I used to treat many patients with pain conditions, especially related to motor vehicle accidents.

All of my experience in the different locations I have worked made me the acupuncturist I am today. Being able to treat diverse populations with various types of ailments made me develop the unique approach I use to treat each and every one of my patients.

I truly love what I do and look forward to each and every treatment I provide because they are all unique! I strive to the best of my ability to help you heal!  Thank you for taking the time to visit my website!  Hope to treat you soon!
